As a child I was exposed
to art when my mom viewed art galleries in the Seattle area. She also
encouraged art in us 4 children with giving art supplies and
complimenting our creations. She started an art league with other art
friends and my sisters and I had a booth in the Mercer Island Art Show
which the league sponsored. The desire to capture vibrant fall colors
prompted me to take pastel classes in recent years. I'm continuing
with oil painting which I had taken when getting my graphic design
degree from Portland State University. It's hard to keep up with the
ideas I want to get on canvas. I often enjoy creating a scene where a
person can picture themselves like sitting on the wicker furniture
under a willow tree or sipping a drink while sitting on the beach in
Puerto Vallarta.
I am also a calligrapher and have been fortunate enough to take from
various teachers in the Portland area. Besides framed pieces I have
lettering on walls in buildings in the Portland area.
